May 30 - August 29, 2010 - Pleasure Island's Free Movies at the Lake - Free family movies at the Carolina Beach Lake Park every Sunday! 9PM, at Atlanta Avenue, Carolina Beach, NC. The movies are held at the Carolina Beach Lake Park in Beautiful Carolina Beach, NC. The movies start after sunset (approx 9pm). For a full schedule call (910)458-8434.
May 30 - August 29, 2010 - Pleasure Island's Free Fireworks at the Beach - Enjoy free fireworks by the sea on the beach near the boardwalk every Thursday night from May 30th through August 29th. The fireworks are free and open to all, weather permitting. Schedule is subject to change without notice. The fireworks will begin after the sun had gone down (approx 9pm). July 3, 2010 - Pleasure Island Independence Day Fireworks - Come down to the beach strand directly in front of the Boardwalk in Carolina Beach and enjoy the best fireworks display this Island has to offer. Be sure to bring your blanket, beach chairs and food and prepare yourself for a show like none other. Fireworks begin at 9pm and are free and open to the public. July 4, 2010 - 4th of July Riverfront Celebration - Celebrate Independence Day with music, food and fireworks in Historic Downtown Wilmington! Entertainment will be provided by the 440th North Carolina Army National Guard Band in Riverfront Park. Join us on Water Street from 5pm to 10pm for food, music, fireworks and fun! Fireworks will begin at 9:05 pm from the Battleship North Carolina. For those viewing the fireworks along the river bring your radios and tune in to WGNI 102.7 FM. Primary viewing of the fireworks will be from downtown. WECT TV 6 will also broadcast the fireworks live beginning at 9pm. For more information call (910)341-7855. July 4, 2010 - Battleship Blast! - Watch one of the largest choreographed fireworks displays in the State cascade over the Battleship North Carolina in Downtown Wilmington, NC. Bring the entire family and enjoy an explosive evening! Primary viewing from historic downtown Wilmington. Fireworks at 9:05pm. Due to the fireworks, the Battleship closes at 6:00pm. July 9 -11, 2010 - Annual Reef/Sweetwater Pro-Am Surf Fest - Enjoy 3 days of spectacular surfing at the 3rd annual Reef/Sweetwater Pro-Am Surf Fest, Oceanic Street, Wrightsville Beach, NC. Watch some of the world's best professional and amateur surfers ride the waves, while you soak up some rays. More than just a killer contest, the festival is sure to be nothing but fun in the sun. July 10, 2010 - Classy-Chassis Car Show - The most memorable show of the summer takes place under big old shade trees at Historic Poplar Grove Plantation, 10200 US Hwy 17 North, Wilmington, NC. Cars and trucks 1980 and older compete for top awards. Antique (1975 and older) Tractor Display. A Country Flea Market spreads front to back on this old peanut farm. Vendors offer handmade crafts, furniture, jewelry, gently used goods and more. Take a break from the summer heat with an ice cream sundae in the air conditioned barn. July 24, 2010 - Wooden Boat Festival - 9:30AM, CFCC Campus, Water Street, Wilmington, NC. Presented by the CFCC Boat Building program, the festival serves as an annual celebration of the tradition and craft of wooden boat building. CFCC's wooden boat festival attracts thousands of visitors every year. This year, the event will feature over 50 wooden boats, including kayaks, skiffs, and boats from the Simmons Sea Skiff Club. Students in CFCC's Boat Building program will exhibit their own work and conduct demonstrations of traditional boat building techniques like bending wood using steam. Build Your Own Boat! July 30 - 31, 2010 - Celebrity Charity Kayak Fishing Tournament - The Annual TJM tournament is open to the public and celebrities. Fort Fisher Federal Point Boat Ramp, End of Hwy 421, Kure Beach, NC. Permitted fishing area is Mason's Inlet to Bald Head Island. 100% of this tournament's proceeds will be donated to the Eastern North Carolina Alzheimer's Association to help fight the battle against Alzheimer's disease. There will be excellent prizes for event winners, silent auction items, raffle items, and celebrity autograph's as well as great food from Middle of the Island Catering, beverages and lots of fun for the entire family! Please come out and help support the Alzheimer's Association by kayak fishing or just show up for the silent auction, raffles, and celebrity autograph session at Fort Fisher at 2pm.
