April 2, 2010 - Southport Spring Festival - 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM at the Franklin Square Park in Southport, NC. Over 100 crafters and their homemade treasures. There will be 10 food vendors offering usual southern fare and treats for the unusual taste. Southport-Oak Island Kiwanis Club will be selling numerous colors of beautiful Encore Azaleas and a wide variety of bedding plants for your yard and garden. Enjoy live entertainment throughout the festival featuring our own local talent on the stage. Saturday will feature the return of the old Robert Ruark Chili Cook-Off Contest. April 7 - 11, 2010 - Annual North Carolina Azalea Festival - A springtime tradition celebrating Wilmington's exceptional artwork, gardens, history and culture. Activities include headline concert entertainment; a three day riverfront street fair with arts, craft and food vendors, continuous live entertainment; a spectacular parade including floats, marching bands, clowns, animals, and celebrities; garden and home tours; the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. April 8 - 11, 2010 - Cole Brothers Circus - At the Wilmington International Airport, 300 Airport Blvd, Wilmington, NC. Covering more than an acre of ground, the Cole Bros. Circus Big Top is a favorite event of the Festival. Its combination of costumed characters, acrobatics, clowns, and more draws packed crowds each year. Nonstop action fills the Big Top in this two-hour performance. Tickets for circus performances are available in advance from the Festival Call (910)794-4650 for more information.

April 9 - 11, 2010 - NC Azalea Festival Garden Tour - The Azalea Garden Tour is the Cape Fear Garden Club’s largest fundraiser each year. Over the past 50 years, the club has given thousands of dollars back to the community through funds generated by the tour. Tickets are valid for use the entire weekend and provide admission to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony which officially opens the tour. Proceeds from the ticket sales are distributed by the Cape Fear Garden Club in the form of beautification and horticultural grants to the community. Call (910)619-9444 for more information.

April 10 - 11, 2010 - NC Azalea Festival Coin Show - The Coin Show showcases 45 dealers who come and present their coins. Held at the American Legion Post 10, 702 Pinegrove Dr., Wilmington, NC. Every year drawings are held which give away coins valued at over $300 and several silver eagles valued at over $10 per coin. $1 Donation Suggested for Admission. Donation enters you in a drawing for $5 gold pieces and Silver Eagle Pieces. Call (910)794-4650 for more information.

April 17, 2010 - Oak Island Lighthouse 10K Run/Walk - 8:30 AM, 4841 Long Beach Road, SE Southport, NC. 10K route over the Oak Island Bridge through tree lined streets on Oak Island past the beachfront and Oak Island Lighthouse ending at the NC Baptist Assembly in Fort Caswell. 5K route begins near Caswell Beach Town Hall and travels the beachfront past the Oak Island Lighthouse ending at the NC Baptist Assembly, Fort Caswell. Admission Fees: $20 per person, $10 military on entries postmarked by March 21st. $25 per person, $15 military after March 21st. T-shirt or tank included with the first 500 entries. April 17, 2010 - Pleasure Island Chowder Cook-Off - Enjoy and vote on chowder from various restaurants and groups. In addition to serving up the area's best chowder, this daylong event includes live music and the Kidz Zone which will have face painting, balloon art, giant inflatable slide and more. There will also be fudge, hotdogs, funnel cakes, luna pops, pizza, bloom'n onions, soft drinks and beer and wine for sale. (No coolers, no pets please!). April 17, 2010 - Rims on the River Vintage Car and Hot Rod Show - Rims On The River is an annual event that takes place the second to last Saturday of April. The show takes place in historic Downtown Wilmington. Cars dating 1980 and older, line the streets of the downtown area, with the Cape Fear River and the diverse collection of retail stores and restaurants, as their backdrop. New this year to the event is the vintage motorcycle area, 1980 and older. Free and open to the public, fee for car entries. For more information call (910)251-0727.

April 24, 2010 - Street Festival in Kure Beach - Come enjoy the sites and sounds of Kure beach during the Annual Street Festival in front of the Kure Beach Pier. There will be dozens of arts and crafts booths, a variety of food and beverage vendors and plenty of music from a number of distinct musical groups presenting renditions of blue grass, beach and contemporary tunes. April 24, 2010 - Antique Automobile Show - 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Independence Mall, 3500 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC. The Cape Fear Chapter Antique Automoblie Club of America will be presenting the show. Vehicles 25 years or older are allowed. There are awards, a 50/50 drawing, and door prizes. Over 125 vehicles are expected to attend. April 30 - May 1, 2010 - Coastal Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament - Over the past years the Coastal Classic, held at Landfall Country Club, Pete Dye Course, 1550 Landfall Dr., Wilmington, NC, has brought some of the biggest names in sports, screen, and music to Wilmington.
