February 4 - 6, 2010 - NC Jazz Festival - This 3 day festival at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside, 301 N. Water St., Wilmington, NC is presented in one venue – the Hilton ballroom – with cabaret style seating. February 5 - 7, 2010 - Wilmington Chocolate Festival - Wilmington Chocolate Festival's Chocolate Gala at the Senior Center,Senior Center, 2222 S. College Rd.,Wilmington, NC is the area's most fun Gala of the year. It's also the best value at only $25 in Advance. Featuring wonderful appetizers and heavy hors d'oeuvres; a "Vineyard" offering FREE Wine tastings, Artisan Beers, live music, and of course.."Unlimited Chocolates and Desserts", Saturday and Sunday there will be a business showcase of proprietors in the area who make or sell chocolates and other sweet treats. February 5 - 6, 2010 - Laughing for Life Comedy Show - A comedy benefit show for local families! For two nights the best sketch, improv, and stand-up comedy that Wilmington has to offer will converge at City Stage, 21 N. February 13 - 14, 2010 - Annual Wilmington Garden Show - Saturday,9:00 AM-5:00 PM and Sunday, from 11 AM-4:00 PM. at the CFCC Schwartz Center, 601 N. Front St., Wilmington, NC. The 14th annual Wilmington Garden Show will host vendors with unique gardening displays and items for sale. There will also be presentations throughout both days where the public will have an opportunity to discuss their gardening issues with professionals Tickets are $7 children under 12 free. February 20, 2010 - Polar Plunge - Dare To Bear It for Special Olympics New Hanover County! Take the Polar Plunge with us at the Boardwalk in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. Come take a chilling plunge into the Atlantic Ocean to support Special Olympics New Hanover County. Join us for live music, costume contest, a silent auction, food, art, Hot Rods and more. In order to participate in the Annual Polar Plunge, you must raise a minimum of $50.00 ($30.00 for students) per plunger. We invite you to plunge as a team or as an individual. February 20 - 21, 2010 - Anniv. of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge - Saturday and Sunday enjoy a variety of activities including demonstrations of muskets, cannon, and broadswords, colonial music, surveying, cooking demonstrations, military drill, blacksmithing, and other activities. Two separate militia camps will portray the Loyalist and American troops who fought at Moores Creek. Throughout the each day scheduled weapons firings and musical performances will be offered. A variety of children's programs will also be offered, including militia drill, toy making, and surveying. Held at Moores Creek National Battlefield, 40 Patriots Hall Dr., Currie, NC. Free. February 21, 2010 - Pet Expo - Monty’s Home Pet Expo is held at the Schwartz Center, 610 N. Front St., in downtown Wilmington, NC from 11 a.m. to 5 p. m. This is the largest indoor pet event in the area. Vendors come from all over to promote new and different, and old reliable pet items and services to citizens of Wilmington and surrounding counties. Pet lovers flock to the expo to learn about pet care and perhaps pick up something for their beloved animal companion. In addition to pet-related booths, the expo features a kiddie corner, silent auction, a gourmet food vendor and lots and lots of pet care information. Admission $5 under 12 free. February 27, 2010 - Annual Camellia Show - 10 am at the Shrine Club, 4510 South College Road, Wilmington, NC. The Tidewater Camellia Club presents this long standing community event free of charge to the public. Come and enjoy the myriad of color provided by over a thousand camellia blooms. In the morning the blossoms will compete for exquisite prizes and be judged by a panel of American Camellia Society certified judges. After the competition is complete at noon, the doors will open to the public – free of charge - so that they can enjoy the wide variety of camellias grown in the region. In combination with the show, the Tidewater Camellia Club will sell camellia care booklets and camellias plants. The plant sale starts at noon and goes on until all the plants are gone. February 28, 2010 - Antique Appraisal Fair - 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM at the Southport Community Center Bay Street, Southport, NC. Experienced appraisers will give opinions on the value of your antiques. February 29, 2010 - Coastal Women's Show - 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the Southport Community Building 223 E. Bay Street Southport, NC. A fun event designed to celebrate and pamper women. February 6, 2010 - Brunswick Stew Cook-Off - The Brunswick Stew Cook-Off will be held at Rourk Woods in Shallotte, NC on February 6, 10:00am until 4:00pm. At the event you will find tasty Brunswick Stew, local crafters, kid’s area, live entertainment, beer garden, delicious foods such as barbeque, chicken, ribs, hamburgers, fries, corn, and much more!
